Arsenal Ace Admits Team Need More Belief

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has admitted the team needs to show more belief if they are to finish in the top four this season. The Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League on away goals last night after a valiant effort in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
Arsene Wenger’s side won 2-0 at the Allianz Arena, but ultimately left themselves with too much to do from the first leg, which they lost 3-1 at the Emirates. They were generally considered to have an extremely slim chance of progressing to the quarter-finals of the competition heading into last night’s game, but so nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback.

Blame

With Arsenal currently fifth in the Premier League, they face a real battle just to reach the Champions League next season, so it may be a while before they are lining up against such prestigious opposition again.Ramsey feels part of the blame for their poor season so far is in their mindset, and believes they need to show more belief if they are to improve.Speaking after the Bayern result, the Welshman told Arsenal’s official website: “We have a lot of good quality players in the team and we showed that tonight.

“We just need a bit more belief. Consistency has been a factor over the season.
“When we do play well, we can give any team a run for their money and we did that tonight.
“We just have to go into every game focused and try and win every game that we play until the end of the season to try and get back into the Champions League.”Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny were the Arsenal goalscorers in Germany, but they just couldn’t force a crucial third goal which would have sealed arguably one of the most famous victories in the club’s history.

Tough

Ramsey feels the Gunners can take heart by the way they came back, but that doesn’t take away from their sadness to have exited the competition.
He added: “It was always going to be difficult from the first game.
“We gave ourselves a tough job to do but we came here with no pressure and managed to put in a really good performance.
“We came close and at the end of the two legs, we drew 3-3.
“It’s not an easy place to come and win 2-0, so we can take a lot of positives from the result.
“We’re disappointed we’re out of this competition.”
