Man Utd to name two different teams in Easter fixtures

Sir Alex Ferguson

United travel to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Saturday and then to Stamford Bridge on Easter Monday in an FA Cup quarter-final replay after the first meeting between the sides was drawn 2-2 at Old Trafford.

Ferguson will name a weakened side against the Black Cats, with United’s 15-point lead at the top of the table over defending champions Manchester City giving the Red Devils enough breathing space to risk dropping points on Wearside.

The likes of Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are expected to be left out altogether against Sunderland but should return to play Chelsea, the newspaper claims. United will also fly home privately some of their players who have been on international duty in midweek in an effort to get them back to Manchester sooner rather than later.

United have not won the FA Cup since 2004, when they beat Millwall in the final, while Chelsea are the current holders of the trophy, having seen off Liverpool last year with goals from Ramires and Didier Drogba. Andy Carroll pulled one back for the Reds.
