Aaron Ramsey believes he made the right decision when snubbing a move to Manchester United to sign for Arsenal.
The Wales international was wanted by both the Gunners and United five years ago but opted to join Arsene Wenger’s side ahead of the Red Devils when leaving Cardiff in a £5million deal.
The midfielder admits it was a difficult decision to make at the time but was impressed with Wenger’s plans for the future and says he does not regret making the switch despite the fact Arsenal have not won a trophy during his time with the club and United continue to be very successful.
“It was definitely a hard choice to make at my age, but I’ve no regrets, I think I made the right choice,” Ramsey said. “I felt more wanted at Arsenal, I felt the plan was better for me and they gave youngsters more opportunities.
“Manchester United also had a lot of midfielders at the time as well.”
Ramsey says meeting Wenger proved to be a big moment and it persuaded him to join the north Londoners.
“The main factor in joining Arsenal was meeting with Arsene Wenger and to hear what his plans were for me,” he added in the Daily Mirror.
“He has brought through so many youngsters and given them opportunities and turned them into great players.”
