Bale and Sagna both make the north London XI
Arsenal and Tottenham both possess some fantastic players in their ranks, but who would make the combined north London XI team?
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris | Tottenham
The Frenchmen joined Spurs on deadline day last summer from French side Lyon. Having already established himself as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world, Lloris has excelled at Spurs and has pushed Brad Friedel out of the team. The former Lyon goalkeeper has been a real asset to Tottenham's defence this season.
Right-back: Bacary Sagna | Arsenal
Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna joined the club in 2007 in a move from French club Auxerre, and has become a starting regular. Sagna has made over 220 appearances for the Gunners and has been named as one of the best full-backs in the league on several occasions. Sagna's performances this season have narrowly pushed out Tottenham's Kyle Walker into getting in this starting XI.
Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen | Tottenham
Belgium international Jan Vertonghen has proved to be one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season. Having also impressed in the left-back position, the former Ajax defender has had a fantastic debut season at the club. The Belgian has also appeared to be a goalscoring centre-back after his recent brace against Liverpool.
Centre-back: Thomas Vermaelen | Arsenal
The Arsenal skipper has turned out to be a leader and a warrior of the Arsenal defence. The Belgium international has proved to be an important figure for Arsenal, despite not having his best year this season.
Left-back: Nacho Monreal | Arsenal
The Spaniard joined the Gunners on deadline day in the January transfer window in a switch from Malaga. The left-back has brought pace and attacking threats to Arsenal, having initially signed to replace the injured Kieran Gibbs. The former Malaga defender recently scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win against Swansea.
Right-wing: Aaron Lennon | Tottenham
Serving his seventh year at the club, some would argue that this is the best season he has had in his career. The England international is a threat to any full-back with his lightening pace and dribbling.
Centre-midfield: Jack Wilshere | Arsenal
At only 21 years of age, Wilshere has already made the breakthrough into the England team and has proved to be a key player for Arsenal. Having came up through the ranks, he is a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.
Centre-midfield: Santi Cazorla/Mousa Dembele | Arsenal/Tottenham
The Spaniard and the Belgian are both very evenly matched. Having signed for their respective clubs last summer, they were thought of as exciting prospects by both sets of fans. Both players have had influential roles for their teams and have proved to be crucial signings.
Left-wing: Gareth Bale | Tottenham
Having been recent compared to both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Welsh wizard has had a terrific season for Tottenham. Many neutral fans have credited Bale for Tottenham's performances this season after his wonderful solo displays. Bale has the pace and strength to take on most full-backs in the Premier League.
Striker: Theo Walcott | Arsenal
Some would argue that Theo Walcott is not a striker and purely a winger; however, his eye for goal and his goalscoring exploits this season prove otherwise. Having recently signed a contract extension with the club, Walcott has also won over the Arsenal fans by netting 18 goals this season.
Striker: Jermain Defoe | Tottenham
The 30-year-old has been an excellent goalscorer at Spurs and is another fan favourite. Currently sitting on ten goals this Premier League campaign, Jermain Defoe has recently found scoring goals difficult due to injuries and team-mate Gareth Bale stealing the limelight.
