New United boss Louis Van Gaal has a £200m transfer kitty to spend and knows he need to strengthen in all areas.
A move to United has been mooted and Cavani has shunned the chance of playing that talk down.
He said: "In football you never know. Anything can happen.
"One day you're in one team and they next day you can be in another.
"Does this kind of game give us motivation to join a big team like Real Madrid? Luis Suarez and I already play for big teams.
"I think we have defended the colours of our clubs with pride and prestige."
