Youths from Kwara State, under the auspices of Kwara Youth Stakeholders Forum (KYSF) has called on President Jonathan to give the state its slot of ministerial appointment as delay in appointing a minister from the state is slowing down party activities in the area.
Addressing the press Thursday in Abuja after its executive meeting, the president of the body, Charles Olufemi Folayan, lamented the non-inclusion of Kwara in the list of nominees submitted to the National Assembly for screening, arguing that there are no justifications to deprive the state it slot.
“There is no justification to deprive us of our ministerial slot, any crisis in Kwara PDP can even be solved by the anticipated minister and this should not continue to deprive the entire state from having their representative in the Federal executive council” he stated.
He explained that the people of Kwara has shown love to the Jonathan government in many ways in the face of opposition, insisting that giving them a minister is not only their constitutional right but also a way to encourage people who have demonstrated love and willingness to work for a successful transformation.
Folayan described as disturbing the situation where a state is left with no minister for three months after the sack of the former minister of sport, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi.
“Democracy is not a democracy if it does not give a chance for equal right of benefit, so Kwara should not be left out, we therefore call on Mr. president to give us our minister to proof his confident in the ability of Kwarans and to further gain their trust,” he urged.
