Damon Albarn's former collaborator passes away, cause of death not confirmed
BOBBY Womack has died at the age of 70.
The legendary singer and songwriter – whose music career has spanned five decades – has passed away.
His cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but the musician had previously suffered from cancer and Alzheimer's disease and battled with drug addiction, according to the BBC.
Bobby was best known for his work with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin and more recently, Blur's Damon Albarn.
Earlier today, his celeb pals and admirers have taken to Twitter to express their sadness at his passing.
Rolling Stones singer Ronnie Wood said: "I'm so sad to hear about my friend Bobby Womack. The man who could make you cry when he sang. He has brought tears to my eyes with his passing.
"My heart goes out to his family and friends and everyone who loved his music. Bobby, you will be greatly missed xx."
Damon Albarn added: "I will see my brother in church."
