Position Summary:
Support the engineering team by documenting new designs and design changes of the mechanical & electrical systems of the product from concept through production. Position also includes the design interpretation of specifications, and the documentation and artwork associated with manuals and labels. Must be technically competent, using independent judgment & capable of handling projects with some direct guidance & supervision. The position also requires some light assembly capabilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in “Practical Process Improvement” to meet department & company goals.
Prepare & maintain CAD (Solid Works®) drawings & electronic based process documentation.
Establishes & maintains manufacturing specifications, i.e. Bill of Materials, drawings, and other related technical input and documentation. Experience in the use of tolerance analysis, GD&T, ISO standards, design for manufacturing, and design for assembly.
Maintain Engineering Documents & Work Instructions via an engineering change process system.
Provide design assistance to associates relating to product improvements.
Participates with Manufacturing Engineers, Designers, & Engineers in the design of mechanical and electrical components for new and existing products.
Provide sufficient documentation to insure manufacturability, and the implementation of new designs and design improvements into production.
Ability to assemble via simple tools, products based on the drawings created.
Pull parts and coordinate with manufacturing to source unique materials required for production of oem products.
Provide technical assistance & expertise to manufacturing, striving for process improvements & corrective action.
Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures

Perform other duties and cross training as assigned
Perform work in office environment with frequent exposure to manufacturing plant activity while using Personal Protective Equipment as required.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• Associates degree from an accredited higher learning institution in applicable mechanical engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in use of CAD software, including Pro-E, Solid Works or similar 3D CAD.
• Knowledge of printed circuit board documentation desired.
• Must have knowledge and experience with word processing MS-Word, spreadsheet applications Excel, .pdf creation & other PC applications.
• Ability to work within a global environment which includes R/D centers and Product management.
• Basic knowledge of artwork creation and the documentation of labels desired.
• Ability to solder and crimp wiring harnesses desired.
• Some travel may be required.
• Proficiency in CAD skills & software knowledge.
• Ability to effectively cope with priority changes including timelines and project requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction & without direct supervision.
Physical Demands:
The position requires both mental and physical dexterity.
Ability to think quickly and clearly.
Ability to spend long hours sitting at a computer workstation or CAD station in an office environment.
Ability to climb stairs due to frequent trips to the manufacturing area.
Ability to stand for several hours at a time, bend, stretch, reach and kneel while intermittently being exposed to noise, fumes, dust and dirt while in manufacturing area.
Ability to frequently lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
