The AstraZeneca IT function is undergoing significant transformation which will address performance, perception and profile. The IT Transformation Programme will break the default outsourcing mentality, drive greater cohesion amongst senior IT leadership, begin the simplification of what has become an overly complex function and build a world class IT organization.
High Level Function and Role Overview
The HR, Legal & Corporate Affairs (HRLCA) IT Team is a newly created organisation which supports the AZ business functions. The business context and IT landscape is changing rapidly for these areas and the HRLCA IT Team play a significant part in defining and driving forward our shared strategy and goals which include a focus on simplification, utilising cloud technologies and driving smarter use of IT and more shared solutions.
The Business analyst will play a critical role understanding the business needs, analysing, validating and documenting the business and system requirements. They will either work independently or in small BA teams with business stakeholders to ensure proposed processes and systems respond to the business requirements and align to the overall IT strategy. The role assists in designing processes and changes to processes that will be used to implement the business transformation solutions
Key Accountabilities
The Business Analyst key accountabilities are:
- Document processes and the associated technical requirements
- Define and draft system scope and objectives and translate these business requirements into design specifications ensuring that requirements are appropriately met, tested and implemented
- Proactively research products, procedures, and/or workflow needs and identify ways to capture, validate and integrate information to improve overall business process performance
- Identify and resolve gaps between new and existing business processes and applications and facilitate implementation of new business processes and modifications
- Liaise between the IT team and the business to agree on user requirement scope and delivery
- Expert on how the business processes are utilizing the existing IT solutions
The Business Analyst will also collaboratively with:
- The Functional Solution Architect to ensure alignment and integration of solutions to the wider IT strategy and technical solution implemented or being implemented solution development team (internal or external) to effectively transition designs, ensuring clear understanding of requirements and on developing test cases and test scripts to ensure requirements are met
- Application/Software Developers and/or the Support Organisation, acting as focal point for question resolution
- Process owners to facilitate implementation, deployment and communication processes.
Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Candidates should a real passion for working closing with have:
- Essential proactive customer focussed approach
- Demonstrated business process design, analysis and requirement gathering experience
- Experience in interpreting and documenting the business context, relevance, benefits, downstream impacts and criticality to business processes
- Knowledge of common application platforms used in AZ, either in AZ or elsewhere
- Knowledge of IT project management life cycle activities and deliverables
- Experience of supporting a Function in an IT service delivery and management capacity
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Influencing, networking and team working skills
- Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams

A willingness to take on new areas of technology outside of any prior specialism and a desire to engage with Functions about their requirements and bring innovative solutions, not always a new system but exploiting what we have where possible and reducing the cost and complexity of the estate
