The building collapsed around 6am on July 9th, as labourers were putting finishing touches to the last stage of the building process  in readiness for Friday, 11th which is the date for the commissioning of the edifice.
According to a Public Relations Officer for Police in Osun State, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, the school building collapsed due to a heavy wind around 6am on the said day.
Although two people were injured, the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, made it known how unhappy and disturbing the sad event is to him and his entire government.
Governor Aregbesola, through his media aide, revealed how the new development has shattered the happiness his administration experienced when the hall and some blocks of classrooms were built. The media aide, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, said the Government of Osun State regrets that the incident occurred but investigations are on and they might reveal the true cause of the dilemma.
In his words..: “As a responsible government, it is too early for us to say what the exact cause of the collapse is until we have full investigations and advice of professionals. However, it must be stated here that all necessary quality assurance tests were carried out to ensure structural durability and integrity of the project. Engineers from the Osun Ministry of Works and engineers from the Structural Engineering section of the Nigerian Society of Engineers have been dispatched to the site to establish the real cause of this unfortunate incident,”Semiu said.
