Borrussia Dortmund are keen on securing a loan for Ilori who spent last season on loan at Spanish La-Liga side Granada after refusing to splash the cash on the talented central defender a summer ago while he was available for sale by Sporting Lisbon.
Reports say if Dortmund gets their wishes to sign Ilori they will be willing to sanction the sale of Matt Hummels to Manchester United.
Liverpool on their path are foot dragging on Dortmund's request to have Ilori as they view him as a backup to their preferred centre back next season if Daniel Agger rumoured to be close to a move to Barcelona is transferred.
Thiago Ilori signed for 7 million pounds by Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon last summer is presently recovering from an injury sustained in Liverpool's second preseason game against Preston North End two weeks ago.
Despite representing Portugal at various Youth level, the 21 year old is still eligible for Nigeria at senior level through his parents and the three lions of England the country where he was given birth to.
