Mashaba Warned Players About Musa
Bafana Coach: I Warned My Players About Musa
Head coach of South Africa national team Ephraim Mashaba, has revealed
he warned his players about Nigeria stand in captain Ahmed Musa prior to
yesterday friendly game.
Musa scored a curler to open scoring for Nigeria but Bongani Zungu ensured a draw for his side, scoring in stoppage time to end the tie on a 1-1 draw.
Mashaba while praising his team effort in the game despite their failure to win, praised Nigeria goalscorer Ahmed Musa saying he warned his defenders about the threat of the CSKA Moscow forward.
The 22 year old scored a replica of his first goal against Argentina at the World cup 2014 in Brazil in Nigeria second group game, a game he scored a brace although Nigeria lost 2-3.
"I said to the players before the game, there's this Musa-number 7, don't give him an area where he faces goals because he will punish us" He said in his post match conference.
"We had him in the first half and he was nowhere, we had him for some time in the second half.
"When he started playing, he always comes in from the flanks and he did it tonight, he is a very, very good curler of the ball.
"You could see when his foot hit the ball that it was going to cause problems for the goalkeeper."
