FCBESCOLA Academy will develop, empower youths, says CEO

Chairman of Blaugrana Group International, the initiator of FCBESCOLA Soccer School, Mr. Leslie Oghomienor has stated that the academy was set up to develop and empower Nigerian youths, disclosing that the academy was created to offer students aged five to 18 years the prospect of learning the values and methodology of FC Barcelona’s brand of football known and respected worldwide.
The academy is currently situated at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.Speaking during a facility tour of the academy by the WhiteHouse Group led by its President, Dr. Austin Eruotor, who was accompanied by the Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers, Mr. Larry Kubeinje, Oghomienor said the academy came as a result of the problems facing the nation, which could be attributed to the insensitivity of various institutions.
He said the self-centeredness of the leaders, the internal wrangling among ethnic groups, the lack of impactful and sustained corporate support and drive, the fear of the unknown, lack of direction and vision, and quick fixes mentality are among the things that have dampened the spirits of the youth to make meaningful impact in life.
‘‘We are driven by the passion to add value that will engineer endurable change. Teach the youth good values in order to make them better persons and be role models in the society beyond their sporting careers.
“This segment of the Nigerian population, if given the right attention and support by all the liable stakeholders, will speedily drive and propel the anticipated change revolution,” he said.
In his remarks, Eruotor lauded Blaugrana Group for establishing a football academy with such a tremendous impact in less than a year after its official launch in February this year.
