The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has disclosed that there is no cause for alarm over President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
Odigie-Oyegun, who was part of the team that recently visited the ailing president in London spoke at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
He said some of the conversations that the entourage had with the president justified his continued stay in London, saying it was aimed at building on his stamina and energy.
According to him: “There has been sufficient information given to the public. We want to confirm that Mr. President is convalescing very strongly.
Right now, all he is doing is having enough rest as much as he can to build up his energy and stamina.
Right now, all he is doing is having enough rest as much as he can to build up his energy and stamina.
“But the worst is certainly over, as Mr. President is going to come back to face the responsibilities for which the people of this country elected him. I am glad to say that he is recovering beautifully.”
On the concerns raised by the Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose over his health status, Odigie-Oyegun said: “When people have taken leave of common sense and all decency, when people have thrown over board, basic cultural upbringing, when people cease to have respect for elders and an elder statesman who is also the president of this nation, to make fun of him and seek to say things that are totally unbecoming, it is not really worth commenting on.
“I hate to comment on anything that the governor says. But I am glad that even the PDP governors have gone there. They were very excited with the pace of Mr. president’ recovery.”
When asked about the possible time the president would return, he said: “Only Mr. president can speak on when he is coming back. But I am glad that he is having a lot of rest and I wish it would not take a longer time to be truly ready.”
