The Police High Command yesterday paraded 32 suspected kidnappers that have been terrorising motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Jimoh Moshood, who carried out the exercise at Katare, Kaduna State, said the suspects were arrested within the first week of the commencement of the Operation Absolute Sanity launched by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to rid the highways of criminals.
According to him, those apprehended include Mohammed Musa; Musa Hassan; Mamuda Ado; Shuabu Musa; Sani Abubakar; Shehu Alh Ado; Abubakar Bello; Mohammed Garba; Usman Bello; Kabiru Ahmadu; Usman Fulani Gambo; Abubakar Abdullahi; Yahaya Usman; Suleiman Lawwan; Awal Madaki and Yakubu Musa.
The list also consists of Aliyu Yahaya; Aminu Shuaibu; Alhaji Umaru Mohammed; Sani Fulani (aka Janara); Ahmadu Rufai; Shuaibu Musa; Ibrahim Illo; Alhaji. Umaru Auta; Bello Tukur and Mohammed Gambo.
The rest were Mohamadu Adamu Sikiru; Mohammed Tukur Ibrahim; Saidu Mohammed; Abubakar Abdullah; Dan- Absabe Isah and Auwalu Abdullahi. Items recovered from them include four AK 47 rifles; six locally made pump action guns and two magazines.
Moshood, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said the suspects have confessed to the offence, adding that most of them had been identified by some of their victims. He stated that they would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
