A three-year-old girl was killed today in a collision with a van, police said.
The van driver, who stopped at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after the incident on Wellesley Road in Croydon, south London.

The 36-year-old was taken to a south London police station where he was later bailed to a date in May.Police were called by the London ambulance service just before 9am after reports of a Mercedes Sprinter van colliding with a child.The girl was taken to St George's hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10.03am. Next of kin have been informed and a postmortem examination will be scheduled, Scotland Yard said.Police are appealing for witnesses, and officers from the road death investigation unit are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
