Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Shakhtar Donestk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the Armenian international made it clear he wants to secure a high-profile move this summer according to the Daily Mirror.The 24 year old may well be seen by the Stamford Bridge side as a possible successor to veteran midfielder Frank Lampard, who is seemingly set to leave the West London side in the summer having as yet not been offered a new contract.
Mkhitaryan is having the most effective of his three seasons at Shakhtar, netting 20 goals in 26 matches, and is also being tracked by Manchester City.Chelsea came face to face with Yerevan born attacking midfielder in the Champions League on two occasions this term and may well have been impressed by Mkhitaryan’s displays.The goal-scoring playmaker isn’t being subtle in his desire to leave his current employers, stating;
“For every player, to play for the strongest clubs in the world is a dream, and the main goal,”
“I will do everything possible to move this summer to a different team.”
This despite the fact that not only are Shakhtar Donetsk set to win their fourth straight domestic title but they also reached the last 16 of the Champions League having qualified from a group that included Juventus and Chelsea
