14 first class graduates would receive
the vice chancellor’s award at the maiden convocation ceremony of the
Kaduna State University slated for Saturday, Vice Chancellor of the
institution, Professor Barnabas Williams Qurix, has said.Qurix stated this at a news
conference to herald activities for the event. He said out of the 1,705
students who graduated in the past five years, 14 of them who left with
first class will also receive prizes from other spirited individuals.“We have 14 first class graduates for
the vice chancellor’s prize. The candidates graduated from Departments
of Mathematics, Computer Science, Bio Chemistry and others. The
institution which commenced operation in 2004, has seven faculties and
37 departments. Arrangement are ongoing to commence admission into the
School of Post Graduate Studies by the middle of the year,”Qurix said.
Qurix added that about N40 million will be spent on the ceremony.Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor
Muhtar Ramalan Yero has paid a visit to the university to access
preparations for the event. During the visit, Yero pledged to support
the management of the university.
