Mancini set to be offered route out of City

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to be offered the chance to take over at megabucks Monaco in the summer, according to reports. The Sunday Mirror claims the Italian was targeted by the club last summer, but they still retain an interest in him and are ready to make him another offer.
Monaco are currently in the second tier of French football under former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri, and are on course for a return to the top flight. However, they have lofty ambitions under billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, and see Mancini as their best long-term option, the newspaper claims.

Reputation
Mancini already has league titles under his belt in Italy and England, so enjoys a glowing reputation on the continent.Whether he would willingly leave City – a club with seemingly unlimited resources and huge potential for European glory – remains unclear, although that decision could be taken out of his hands.

His side are currently 15 points behind fierce rivals Manchester United in the title race, and they look certain to surrender the crown they won in such dramatic fashion a year ago.
They remain in the FA Cup, and Mancini is still hugely popular with City’s fans, but the newspaper claims City have already lined up a number of potential replacements.

Attractive
Everton boss David Moyes, Malaga’s Manuel Pellegrini and Ajax manager Frank de Boer are on City’s shortlist, the newspaper claims.Monaco could be an attractive proposition for Mancini should he leave the Etihad Stadium, with their owners looking to bankroll a serious challenge to Paris Saint-Germain in France.

The newspaper claims that, should Mancini be tempted there, he will be allowed to take his backroom team of David Platt, Attilio Lombardo, Fausto Salsano, Ivan Carminati and Massimo Battara with him.If Mancini stays at Eastlands, he will have to change his side’s style of football more in line with the Barcelona model, according to the newspaper. He signed a new five-year contract with the club last summer after guiding them to the Premier League title, so will hope to be shown loyalty by City at the end of the season.
