Sneijder, 28, joined Galatasaray in January after a contract dispute with Inter, but said he did not blame coach Andrea Stramaccioni for his departure. The Netherlands international, back in his country's squad after a six-month absence, told Volkskrant: "Stramaccioni had to do what he had to do. He has a great opportunity at Inter.
"It was not his fault. I have always had a good relationship with the club and the president. I realised at a certain point that I had to leave. But I took responsibility, as I always do."
Sneijder added that he is happy in Turkey, describing Galatsaray as "a great club" and saying: "I knew I had to come here - there's no point in crying over the past."
