United Eye Porto Defender To Replace Evra

United Eye Porto Defender To Replace Evra

Manchester United are examining their options as they look at potential replacements for Patrice Evra as they remain uncertain about his long term future.

The Frenchman has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals and while discussions have started over an extension to his current deal they are still searching for his replacement.

The Daily Mail say Red Devil scouts were in Malaga watching Porto left back Alex Sandro in the Champions League second round last week.

United have reservations about the defensive capabilities of Evra and have studied several candidates to replace him. Everton's Leighton Baines has long been liked but his £15m valuation means an offer has yet to materialise.

United signed Alexander Buttner for £4m from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer but he has played just 10 games with only two in the Premier League. Evra has been linked with Paris St Germain, former club Monaco and Fiorentina but is eager to stay at Old Trafford.

Brazil international Alex Sandro has six caps and cost Porto £8million from Atletico Paranaense in 2011.
