Vela Heading Back to Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly considering activating the buyback option written into the Real Sociedad contract of former forward Carlos Vela, just a year after the young Mexican left the Emirates Stadium.

Vela joined the Spanish club during the summer transfer window of 2012 but, according to the Daily Express, Arsenal are contemplating exercising the clause placed into Vela's deal when he moved to the Anoeta. The 24-year-old Mexico international was never able to realise his potential as an Arsenal player, but has enhanced his credentials with Real Sociedad this season by scoring 12 goals in 27 La Liga appearances.

Arsenal are reported to have been impressed by how much Vela has improved during his time spent with the Basque club, and Arsene Wenger could bring the player back to the club in the summer transfer window for only £4 million.Vela signed for Arsenal from Guadalajara in November 2005, but was required to complete his first few seasons as a Gunner on loan with Celta Vigo, Salamanca and Osasuna due to work permit restrictions.

The striker was finally granted the documentation to begin his career in England in May 2008, and made his debut for Arsenal the following August against Newcastle.
Vela scored 11 goals in 62 appearances for Arsenal before his permanent transfer to Real Sociedad, having spent the previous season on loan with the club.
