West Ham On the Brink Of Signing £14m ‘New Drogba’

Bony Newcastle United
Upton Park side to sign Eredivisie goal machine.

West Ham are set to complete a £14m deal to sign Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24 year old Ivory Coast international has been dubbed ‘The New Didier Drogba’ by many and the powerful forward has been in excellent form this term, scoring an astonishing 26 goals in 20 Eredivisie matches thus far this season.Such a move is expected to be in preference to making their temporary move for Andy Carroll a permanent one.Bony was a Newcastle United target in January and when the transfer window across Europe slammed shut the striker was then the subject of much interest in the Russian Premier League, with their transfer window running longer than much of the continent.

However Vitesse kept hold of their prized asset but the financially struggling outfit will now accept West Ham’s offer, which would represent a £10m profit on the £4m they paid Sparta Prague for Bony just over two years ago.West Ham have struggled for goals this season, managing just 32 in 29 Premier League matches with their top scorer, skipper Kevin Nolan, netting just six goals.
The forthcoming move to the Olympic Stadium may well give West Ham the long term financial boost that could well afford them the chance to make such big money acquisitions.
