Eden Hazard believes he is already considered one of the best players in the world but has set his sights on emulating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard has been one of Chelsea’s standout performers so far this season, scoring nine Premier League goals and making five assists in 24 games for the west Londoners.

And the 23-year-old has revealed that he considers himself as one of the stars of world football.

“I’d probably say I’m up there with some of the best, but we’ve got to realise there are lots and lots of good players in the world,” Hazard told BBC Football Focus.

“What I would like to do is shed the adjective ‘young’ because that would mean I’ve crossed that barrier and gone one step further in my career.”

The Belgium international also underlined his desire to establish himself as one of the top three players in the world alongside Messi and Ronaldo.

“These players are the best on the planet,” he added. “They score one, two, three goals every game. It’s something you’ve got to aim for – to get to their level.
“They are obviously top, top level players. To get to their level, it’s a case of working hard every day in training, enjoying myself and expressing myself as much as I can on the football field.”
