Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is set for talks with Ashley Cole over his future, as reported by Sky Sports.

Cole is set to leave Chelsea this month when his contract expires is allowed to talk to other clubs over a possible deal.

The now-retired England international has not been offered a new contract with the Blues who are looking to add a number of new players to their squad this summer. Mourinho has spoken with fellow long serving star Frank Lampard but is now hoping to do the same with Cole to clear the air.

“With Frank Lampard I spoke a couple of weeks before the end of the Premier League, with Ashley I didn’t get that chance.

“They are different situations. I want to see what is going on, what is going to happen. But I will speak to him.”

“You can’t imagine how difficult it was,” he said.

“But at the same time, I can feel some happiness about the process because, for sure, he comes back to Chelsea.”
