Don’t attend Omisore’s campaign

Don’t attend Omisore’s campaign, APC warns members

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has advised its members not to go near campaign venues of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

This warning was contained in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday by the Director of Media and Strategy of the APC in Osun State, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi.

The party’s spokesperson said that the advice became necessary because the PDP is expected to start its campaign on Monday ( today) and the APC did not want its members to be accused of fomenting trouble at the venue.

The ruling party also urged the PDP to conduct its rallies peacefully saying the APC candidate, Governor Rauf Aregbesola had conducted two rallies in Ile Ife and Ikire without any form of violence.

The statement read, “We are urging our supporters to avoid the campaign venues of PDP rallies to erase the possibility of being accused of provoking violence at the opponent’s rally.

“As much as possible our supporters should stay away from the vicinity of PDP rallies until it is all over and safe to move around freely again. We are appealing to our supporters to go the extra mile to keep the peace. And it is expected that the PDP will conduct itself in a similar manner.

“The APC welcomes its chief opponent in the August 9th governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party, to the campaign turf, but with a word of admonition:

“Please conduct yourselves and your campaign activities in a civilised fashion, devoid of violence and thuggery.”
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has called on the people of Iwo Federal Constituency to come out en mass to vote and protect their votes from electoral fraudsters on August 9.
The SSG said this at the kick-off of the re-election campaign of the governor for the Iwo Federal Constituency.

He said the people of the state were well-informed about the choice that would benefit them and so they would do everything within their powers to prevent any politician to dubiously upturn their electoral choice.

Adeoti said, “The people of Osun are ready for election. We have told them not only to troop out to vote but also to stay at the polling booths and ensure their votes are properly counted, recorded and announced.”
