Governor Kashim Shettima

Epidemic may soon break up in some parts of Borno state as corpses continue to litter some villages which were last week attacked by the Boko Haram insurgents, residents of the area raised an alarm over the weekend.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting of stakeholders of affected areas in Gwoza local government of Borno state held in Maiduguri, the district head in one of the wards under siege, Lawan John, now seeking refuge in Maiduguri, said that 109 people had so far been buried since the attacks.
He added, “corpses still littered our villages because we didn’t have access to the villages as the insurgents were still hanging around."
