Governor of Ondo State Mourn

                               Mimiko, Alao-Akala mourn


Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, said death has robbed Nigeria of an illustrious and patriotic citizen in the person of the late former Minister of Information and former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dora Akunyili.
Mimiko, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, said to the point of death, the late former minister lived an exemplary life of selfless service to the nation.
He said: “In her service as the Director General of NAFDAC, Akunyili distinguished herself as a diligent, dedicated and dogged public servant, restored sanity into the system and set a new standard in food and drug administration and control, such that has been difficult for her successors to surpass.”
Also, former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has described the death of Akunyili and Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, within 48 hours as as great losses to the nation. Alao – Akala described the late Akunyili as a woman of substance, who upheld excellence as a watchword.
in the various capacity she had served the nation, saying, “she did wonderfully well in her chosen career and at the various national assignments she undertook.
“The late Akunyuli brought sanity into drug manufacturing and sales, which reduced drastically the existence of fake drugs in our society and this to a large extent saved many lives and for this, she will be greatly missed and remembered for her excellence.”
