Omo-Agege resigns as UPC chair

Omo-Agege resigns as UPC chair to pursue guber ambition

The Urhobo Political Congress (UPC) has accepted the voluntary resignation of Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege as its National Chairman. The resignation is sequel to his decision to join the 2015 gubernatorial race in Delta State.
UPC, in a statement by its National publicity secretary, Ebenezer Okorodudu, which was made available to newsmen at the weekend, said: “At the Joint meeting of Elders Council and National Executive Council of Urhobo Political Congress (UPC) held on Thursday, 5th June, 2014, the leadership of UPC unanimously considered and accepted the voluntary resignation of Chief Barrister Ovie Omo-Agege as the National Chairman of UPC in pursuit of his Gubernatorial aspiration.
“The leadership of UPC commended his statesmanship for the voluntary resignation, which is fundamental in keeping the integrity of the organisation intact. The leadership thanked Chief Ovie Omo-Agege for providing the desired leadership for the short time he was there as the National Chairman.
“The leadership and the entire membership of UPC wishes him well in his political endeavour. It was unanimously agreed that the Deputy National Chairman, Chief Tom Amioku, should act as the National Chairman until a new National Chairman is elected.”
Amioku, in his acceptance speech, expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of the congress for their commitment and understanding. He promised to put in his best in carrying out necessary reforms in accordance with the provisions of the guidelines that gave birth to the congress.
