IRBM Science Park (IRBM) is a biomedical research company located in Pomezia (Rome) dedicated to innovative preclinical drug discovery and development in areas of high unmet medical need, including neurodegenerative and rare and neglected diseases.
We are currently seeking a Senior Medicinal Chemist to join our Chemistry department.
As a key member of IRBM’s Medicinal Chemistry team this role will involve directing and delivering on the Company’s internal and external drug discovery objectives.
The successful candidate is expected to have extensive experience and knowledge in lead identification/optimization and SAR studies.
She/He will actively lead project teams tasked with rapidly advancing drug discovery programs.  A strong background and track-record in organic chemistry is expected, likely to PhD level with a documented publication history. Strong communication skills will be required to enable successful management of both associate and PhD scientists as well as the coordination of external collaborations and CRO’s. This position will suit a highly motivated, innovative and strong team player with experience and a proven track record of advancing drug discovery projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or related field likely several years industrial experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.
Required:
Extensive experience in practical chemistry, purification and analytical techniques;
Clear understanding of multidisciplinary compound optimisation strategies;
Management and leadership skills: ability to provide supervision and mentorship;
Strong team ethic and focus on delivering to agreed project timelines;
Motivated and passionate about conducting high quality scientific research.
