THE ROLE:
The Technical & Hygiene Manager will report directly to the Site Manager and will manage all aspects of the Technical & Hygiene activities on site to achieve the highest standards in Food Safety & Food Quality. The Technical & Hygiene Manager will also ensure service, health, safety and environmental compliance standards are met. You will have the responsibility as the site lead for Food Safety Management System, leading the HACCP system on site and day to day control of the technical, hygiene and quality standards. Also responsible for ensuring that the site meet the retailer Codes of Practice. This role is part of the site senior management team and involves significant retailer interface.
The Technical & Hygiene Manager will be accountable for the following:
Constantly monitor performance against Food safety, Health & Safety, cost, quality, delivery & service against key performance indicators to create an environment of continuous improvement and achievement of operational and financial objectives.
Help to drive right first time quality on site.
Motivate, train and develop the technical team and ensure that there is capability across the team.
Acts as a member of the senior leadership team on site and associated responsibilities.
To set Technical and Hygiene standards across the site to ensure right first time every time. Implement standards consistent with best manufacturing practice, customer requirements and codes of practice, quality and food safety standards, health and safety and environmental standards, company standards and ensure the appropriate statutory legislation is embedded across the site.
Ensure the QMS on site is adequate for site and retailer needs.
To manage and coordinate the pest control activities across the site.
To manage and coordinate all customer complaints received against the site.
To manage and coordinate the external hygiene provision across the site.
To ensure that GMP and Customer COP for food safety compliance is delivered.
YOU:
The successful Technical & Hygiene Manage must have that following:
Qualified to Degree level or of Graduate calibre with extensive demonstrable experience within a blue chip food manufacturing / FMCG company.
Excellent communication and people management skills.
Excellent track record in delivering change and transition management.
Proven ability in utilising Continuous Improvement Techniques.
Proven budgetary control skills
Customer facing experience preferably with retailers.
Strong leadership, delegation and team-working skills.
