Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Matthias Ginter after he decided to favour a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Arsene Wenger was very keen to bring in the Freiburg defender to the Emirates, but was told the 20-year-old was not for sale when he approached the German club over a move for the defender.
Now, The Express has confirmed that Ginter is set to complete an £8m move to Dortmund which will see him sign a five-year contract.
Ginter made it perfectly clear before the World Cup that he favoured a move to the former German champions, who is now set to get his wish after pushing through the deal.
The transfer could provide Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal with a significant boost in his pursuit of Mats Hummels.
United are keen to bring the Dortmund defender to Old Trafford and German side’s move for Ginter could signal that the German side are willing to allow their star man to leave.
