Bad News For Arsenal : David Ospina Deal Could Be Off

There have been several reports that Arsenal are close to sealing a deal for Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, however, a new development means the deal might not happen after all.
The Nice goalkeeper Joris Delle who is meant to replace Ospina at Nice injured himself in training and as a result, he is expected to be out for six months.
This new development will come as a blow to those within the Arsenal faithful as David Ospina could easily have arrived on a cheap as reports claims the fee agreed between Arsenal and Nice is in the region of £3 million. All that could become just agreement that might not happen, as Nice are expected to call off the sale of the Colombian number one to Arsenal as a result of this sudden turn of events.
However, with the likely effect of what this might have on the Ospina to Arsenal transfer, there is an opportunity that this new turn of event could open the door for Arsenal to move for Iker Casillas if this particular deal falls through.
The Real Madrid legend has been the subject of much speculation over the past few weeks, and previous reports have claimed that the club have made an offer for the 33 year old who is expected to move away from Madrid following the eminent arrival of Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylson Navas from Levante.
With the injury suffered by the Nice of France backup goalkeeper, there are now fears that the club is expected to call off the deal on Ospina, but in Iker Casillas, Arsenal have a likely option in place.
What is not clear though is the effect this could have on the transfer plans of those at Highbury House. Arsene Wenger is known to be a keen admirer of the Colombian goalkeeper, having personally spoken to him about his chances at Arsenal, after he expressed fears that he might not feature regularly. Those fears might turn out not be realized after all if the French club pulls the plugs on the transfer.
Watchers of Arsenal would be waiting to see how this story develops, especially with the news that the players that went out of the World Cup at the quarter stage and the second round stage are expected back at the club next week. It means, the club will have to move quickly in the transfer market to rectify the goalkeeping situation as only Wojciech Szczesny and Damian Martinez remains the senior goalkeepers at the club.
It would be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger reacts to this new development as pre season enters it crucial stages.
