An Imperial College spin-out company specialising in antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development for oncology have an exciting opportunity for an Antibody Engineer to join them on a 2 year contract. You will have a PhD in Biochemistry or related subject and have significant post-doctoral experience in an applied-academic or industrial setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Perform gene cloning, molecular biology and mutagenesis to create protein expression constructs
*Understand antibody structure and function and antibody lead optimisation, including in silico modelling
*Express recombinant proteins, particularly antibody fragments in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems
*Purify recombinant proteins using a range of chromatographic tools
*Analyse proteins using HPLC, SEC-MALS, IEF, BIACore-SPR
*Discovery of antibody fragments using display technologies is desirable
Education and Experience:
*Must be educated to PhD level in bio/chemistry or comparable qualification. However, very experienced post-graduates can make a strong case to apply.
*Need to have up to 6 years post-doctoral experience in an applied-academic or industrial setting.
*Require excellent communication (written and verbal) skills to technical and lay people both internally, with collaborators and at conferences
*The ability to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, collaborative, high-pressure environment is essential
*Require robust and accurate experimental report writing, electronic data management, preparation of SOPs, batch reports and internal/external study reports.
*Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and work to a high standard
*A track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is desirable
*An understanding of oncology drug development is desirable
*Must be highly organised and able to liaise with contract research organisations and participate in multiple projects
*Must be highly knowledgeable in technical R&D areas related to ADCs
