Discovery Bioscience Scientist / Senior Scientist x 3
Location: Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge
12 month fixed term contract (with the view of extending to permanent)

Cancer Research Technology (CRT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cancer Research UK, is a vibrant drug discovery, technology transfer and commercialisation company which aims to advance new discoveries to beat cancer. To help achieve this goal CRT has its own drug discovery laboratories, CRT-DL based at locations in Central London and Cambridge. CRT-DL is dedicated to helping cancer patients through establishing and prosecuting theme-based alliances with industry. We bring together multiple PIs and industry resource to discover and develop novel therapies. Our pioneering model has already resulted in cancer drug discovery alliances with major partners including AstraZeneca, Forma Therapeutics and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
2 x Assay Scientist/Senior Scientist
Two assay scientists (grade dependent upon experience) are required to join CRT-DL’s Discovery Bioscience team to support in vitro assay development and compound profiling. Both laboratory-based roles require a strong team player with excellent communications skills to interface with our pharmaceutical and academic collaborators.
The first position would suit a recent PhD graduate, or somebody with an equivalent level of experience. A detailed understanding of enzyme kinetics is essential; prior experience of assay development and assay technologies is desirable. Any experience of working in a drug discovery environment would be an advantage.
For the second position, proven experience of assay development with a detailed understanding of a broad range of assay technologies is essential. This role, with potential for line management, would suit a scientist with a minimum of 3 years experience in a drug discovery environment.
1 x Screening and Automation Scientist
For this position, proven expertise in High Throughput Screening and automation is essential. The successful candidate will perform and analyse screening campaigns independently using automated screening and liquid handling systems, as well as industry standard data analysis software packages. Experience in both biochemical and cell-based assays would be highly desirable. Candidates should be qualified to degree level in life or biological sciences with excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to work in a team to meet project deadlines.
