Reports in Spain suggest that United have already made contact with La Viola to assure them that their interest in Cuadrado is genuine.
Louis Van Gaal has suggested that he may take up to four weeks to assess his squad but he is believed to be behind United's interest in the Colombian.
However, the Dutch boss faces a massive challenge to convince Cuadrado that his future lies at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old is on record as saying he does not favour a move to England and is unsure whether the Premier League would suit his style of play.
And with Barcelona and Bayern Munich both also interest in the winger, it seems that he has other options available to him.
Barcelona have been haggling over a fee for Cuadrado, thinking that they are the player's preferred destination.
But Bayern boss Pep Guardiola - now convinced he won't be able to land Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund - is ready to put Barcelona's appeal to the test.
Fiorentina boss Vicenzo Montella recently also expressed hope that the player could be persuaded to remain in Serie A.
He said: "If Cuadrado were to be sold it would only be for a satisfactory offer.
"The fans remain confident, however. With the money we received from the transfer of Cuadrado we would immediately recruit other players to strengthen the squad.
"But if the offer that we are expecting does not arrive, we would be more than happy to keep him."
