Mother of triplets dies from blood clot shortly after going home

A mother-of-five, who had just returned home days after giving birth to triplets, collapsed and died shortly after seeing her two oldest children.

Cassia Rott's husband Joey told local media that his wife was "the happiest I'd ever seen her", after finally being able to see her two daughters following three months away from the family home.
Mrs Rott had been living 130-miles away during the last few months of her pregnancy in case of possible complications with the birth of the triplets.

She delivered Levi, Asher and Piper at 34 weeks on January 29 but a few days after the cesarean section became unwell, and doctors found a blood clot in her lungs.

She was treated with drugs and was allowed to leave hospital on February 8 and immediately returned home to see her two girls - seven-year-old Chloe and toddler Tenley.

Mrs Rott had just been reunited with her daughters in the driveway of their home in Kansas, when she complained of severe chest pains.
Her husband tried to get her to the hospital but she passed out in their car and never regained consciousness.

Mr Rott has now set up a fundraising page and said he plans to tell the children how much their mother sacrificed for them.

The premature triplets, who were still in hospital when their mother died, are now home and are said to be healthy and happy.
