Chelsea have reportedly enquired over the availability of former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel as they look to line up a replacement for Antonio Conte.
The German was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal throughout last season as it appeared that Arsene Wenger might leave the club.
The 43-year-old was expected to take a sabbatical from football after he unexpectedly left Dortmund at the end of their last Bundesliga campaign.
Conte won the Premier League title in his first season in England but relations with the club’s hierarchy appear strained as the Italian has struggled to bring in his transfer targets.
And Sport Bild claims that the Blues have approached Tuchel with director Marina Granovskaia playing the lead role in convincing the former Mainz boss to choose Stamford Bridge.
The report continues by suggesting that Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Wembley has done little to change Conte’s situation at the club.
Conte reportedly informed Diego Costa by text that he is no longer wanted at Chelsea earlier in the summer, while the club also let Nemanja Matic leave for Premier League rivals Manchester United against Conte’s will.
All of those factors have led to friction between Conte and the figures at the top of the club, leading to Granovskaia looking for a replacement.
Luis Enrique is also thought to be a possibility but Tuchel reportedly edges him out with his greater grasp of the English language.
