Andy Murray has breezed past Bernard Tomic with a 6-3 6-1 victory to kick off his campaign in the Miami Masters.
Australian Tomic opened well but then began to fade fast, handing victory to Murray in 56 minutes and he believes that the conditions could have worked to his advantage."Once I got ahead, I played consistently. I served pretty well and didn't give him too many opportunities," he told the BBC.
“I don't know if he was tired or struggling with the humidity,” said Murray, “but he was playing pretty low percentage tennis.
"The one thing I would say is that, if you aren’t used to playing in these conditions, it is extremely hot and difficult to play. I have done it before when my head has gone down and you still want to win, but it doesn't always appear that way.”
Tomic admitted that his body did not react well during the match.
"A few days ago I got sick," he said. "I felt OK until I started to warm up. My body didn't react well and I found it difficult to breathe. Andy played well and against a player like that you have to play well, but unfortunately I didn't have the game to do that
