Bayern Munich and Malaga completed the final eight in the UEFA
Champions League. Bayern, which survived a 2-0 loss at home to Arsenal,
is an
old hat at the Champions League with 11 appearances in the final eight.
Malaga, a 2-0 winner over Porto, reached the quarterfinals in its first

In its first season in the UEFA Champions League, Malaga is the lone quarterfinalist in the
final eight for the first time after beating Porto, 2-0, to advance, 2-1, on aggregate.

Spain leads all countries with three teams in the
final eight: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Malaga. It's the first time in a
decade three La Liga teams made the quarterfinals. In 2001, 2002 and
2003, Spain had three clubs made the final eight.

quarterfinals have won the Champions League or its precursor, the
European Cup; Real Madrid (9 titles), Barcelona (4) Bayern Munich (4),
Juventus (2) and Borussia Dortmund (1).

Barcelona has reached the quarterfinals for eight straight seasons, the

team left in the competition. Real Madrid is back in the final eight for
the third straight year, while Bayern Munich returns to the
quarterfinals for the second year in a row.

appearances apiece in the Champions League since its launch in 1992-93.
Paris St. Germain and
Malaga have the fewest appearances with one apiece.
