Benitez Wants His Head Examined If He Doesn’t Bring This Chelsea Boy Home

Benitez Wants His Head Examined If He Doesn’t Bring This Chelsea Boy Home

Chelsea have had a long and tough season. They have played more games than any other Premier League team after beginning the 2012/2013 season with eight trophies to fight for; the demands on their top players have been high. There are ten players currently out on loan for The Blues including the experienced Michael Essien, the young and talented Romelu Lukaku and Thibault Courtois, who is impressing at Atletico Madrid. One of their players out on loan, Kevin De Bruyne, is impressing in the Bundesliga and is attracting interest from German giants Bayer Leverkusen before he has even had the opportunity to put on a Chelsea shirt.

Bayer Leverkusen could make an offer for De Bruyne that includes long-term Chelsea target Andre Shurrle (22) acting as a sweetener. He has scored 6 goals for Werder Bremen during his loan spell and is proving why Chelsea were so keen to sign him back in January 2012 for over £6.5 million.
At 21 De Bruyne is one of several young Belgians that are impressing in world football. Eden Hazard, Lukaku, Christian Benteke and Axel Witsel are just a few names among a crop of young Belgian talent.

At such a young age, the London club may opt to send De Bruyne out on another loan spell, to ensure he gets regular first team football, and continue his positive development.Chelsea would be foolish to let De Bruyne go without providing him a chance to prove his worth in the Premier League. However with the ten players (including De Bruyne) returning from loan at the end of the season, and a new manager to replace Rafa Benitez there is likely to be another shake up of the squad.
