Neymar row will not force me out - Bartomeu

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will not resign even if he is implicated in the lawsuit surrounding Neymar's move to the club.

Bartomeu's predecessor Sandro Rosell left Barca on January 23 after a judge agreed to hear a case against him following a complaint lodged by club member Jordi Cases about the deal to take Neymar to Camp Nou.

The 51-year-old has stepped in for the remainder of Rosell's term - until 2016 - and also revealed he would not bring presidential elections forward, insisting the existing board deserved to remain in place.

Investigations into the Neymar deal relate to alleged misappropriation of funds during the transfer, which saw the Brazil forward's former club Santos receive only €17.1million of the reported €57.1m transfer free.

Reports have suggested that Bartomeu and vice-president Javier Faus could be caught up in the case.
But Bartomeu insists he would not consider resignation if he was to be implicated.

"I'm not considering resigning and I'm not worried if that (being included in the lawsuit) happens," Bartomeu told Onda Cero.

"The signing of Neymar was exemplary; there was nothing obscure about it and it has already been explained with complete clarity. What's important is that we have him with us and now we have to enjoy him.

"There is no evidence that there is anything or anyone behind the member's lawsuit, only a personal opinion."Reports had suggested that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had tipped Cases off over the transfer's details - leading to the controversy.

Real have strongly refuted any claims of involvement since, and Bartomeu insisted there was no bad blood between Barca's hierarchy and the Bernabeu supremo. He added: "We get on well, we're opponents on the pitch and we compete off it, but there are also issues on which we have to go hand in hand.

"We have had a cordial relationship for years."
