The Serbian international's contract is running into its final few months, and the player is free to negotiate a pre-deal with any other club outside of England.
Gazetta dello Sport report that Inter Milan are further into negotiations with the Manchester United captain than other clubs, and are prepared to smash their wage structure in order to land the player.
Inter face stiff competition from fellow Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan, but owner Erick Thohir has approved a contract offer which far exceeds their current cap of 2.5m Euros a year.
Vidic is reportedly "furious" at Manchester United's refusal to offer the player a new deal until the end of the season, and news sources have also claimed that David Moyes's club are prepared to let him go in the summer, as they let their manager build the team he wants.
Thohir is also interested in the exposure his Italian club would get in eastern Europe with the signing of Vidic, and sees it as a huge benefit, to go with the way such a leader will inspire the team to future successes.
