Manchester United Boss Hints At Vidal Move
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has hinted that he may make a move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, saying he is a player ‘he has always wanted to buy.’
The Chilean, who will star at this summer’s World Cup, has caught the eye of several clubs around Europe after a great season in Serie A.
And according to the Daily Mail, United could be ready to join the chasing party, after the new man in charge spoke highly of the midfielder.
Van Gaal will come up against Vidal in the World Cup group stages with the Netherlands, and ahead of the tournament, he told ESPN: “Chile have very dangerous players.
“I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus.
“I like a lot of Chile players and they always play an attacking style.
“It will be difficult for the Netherlands but we have confidence in the three games we have to play.”
Juventus will not want to lose one of their starmen and are unlikely to accept an offer, unless the player shows a real desire to leave.
If he performs at his best at the tournament his value could well increase, and the player is already rated at around £41million.
Van Gaal has a £200million war chest to spend, so money may not be the issue, but if Juve can be tempted to sell then he will face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea – all of whom can offer him Champions League football next term.
