Chelsea are leading the chase to sign Manchester City talisman Yaya Toure, according to The Sun.
Earlier this week it was reported that the City midfielder’s agent had issued an ultimatum to the Citizens board to offer his client a new contract, or he’d leave in the summer.
Current Deal
Toure has two-years remaining on his £220,000 a week deal and is looking for an improved offer to stay at the club beyond 2015.
It’s believed Chelsea will have to stump up £22million if they wanted to sign the Ivory Coast international.
This is the amount it would cost Toure to buy himself out of his contract and Roman Abramovich will allegedly hand this to the midfielder as a signing on fee so that the 29-year-old isn’t out of pocket.
Competition
However, Real Madrid are also eyeing up the prospect of bringing the former Barcelona star back to La Liga.A Madrid source said: “Jose loves Yaya and has wanted to sign him for years.”
A FIFA ruling allows players over the age of 28 to buy themselves out of their contract if they haven’t been offered a new deal by the club for three years.
