Job Description

Fantastic opportunity for a passionate, inspiring and product-driven Managing Director to join a successful and profitable company in the Northern Home Counties, currently seeking a talented leader to take the business 'to the next level'.
As Managing Director you will be responsible for the revenue and profit growth of this autonomous business (current turnover c£40m).
Reporting to the Group CEO and supported by a committed leadership team, you will oversee all commercial and operational activities of this company, with a focus on product development, sourcing third-party manufacturing capacity, developing all sales channels, strengthening client relationships, improving service delivery and operational excellence, people management and financial performance.

Desired Skills & Experience

This role will suit either a proven Managing Director/General Manager, currently seeking an opportunity to lead a business through a period of growth, or a successful and rounded Sales Director, with a passion for product and experience of selling licensed merchandise into retail, who feels ready to step up into their first MD role.
The essential criteria include:
• A passion for product - an ability to oversee the entire product cycle, from design to delivery
• Experience of sourcing manufacturing capability in the Far East
• Proven 'trading' capability
• Tough but fair negotiation style
• Exceptional sales and client relationship skills
With a workforce approaching 200 and supported by a leadership team of seven direct reports, above all else you will be a truly inspirational leader, with a determination to deliver results by galvanising and motivating a talented and diverse group of people.

This role is ideal for a charismatic and passionate leader, someone used to selling licensed and non-licensed product into retail, who has the desire to take the reins of a fast-paced business, operating in an extremely competitive market, and trade the business through a period of revenue and profit growth.

A successful and highly regarded designer, manufacturer, importer and distributor of stationery and creative play products, the largest subsidiary of a UK listed group.

The business is surprisingly complex as it carries more than 3000 different SKU's and supplies product to the major multiples, a range of Cash and Carry businesses and hundreds of independent retailers. The SKU's are extremely varied, include licensed and own-label products, and range from all types of stationery, through sticker books, wrapping and boxes/containers.
