Arsenal set to be trumped in transfer pursuit

There is drama here at the Football Transfer Tavern as Club Call claim that Manchester City have all but sewn up the signing of Arsenal transfer target Stevan Jovetic.

They claim that the man on the Gunners wishlist is practically a City player already with a first option for the club secured during the negotiations of Matija Nastasic’s move from the Viola all the way back in the summer of 2012.Arsenal of course have long been linked with the forward and have made a bid already which is far below the valuation Fiorentina have placed on the Montenegrin’s head.  The North London club are not the only ones interested in the forward and seemingly were unaware of the claim that City have first dibs on the player, and the valuation will be small change to Roberto Mancini’s men.

City have of course seen Mario Balotelli depart and are facing the prospect of Carlos Tevez also leaving in the summer which means they will have two places available for top class forwards and they feel that Jovetic fits the bill in terms of a worthy replacement. Not only will this news please City and Spurs fans but it will also make Luca Toni happy, who recently claimed that his team-mate should not make a move to Arsenal and should hold out for a move to a bigger club, such as Manchester City.
