Role Purpose:
- To identify and develop and secure funding to increase the capability and commercial growth of CPI’s Sustainable Processing business teams
- To develop and sustain strong commercial relationships with partners and clients based upon trust, robust research and technical excellence
- To create a consistent trusted link between client, partners and CPI from bid to delivery
Key Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for building, writing and submitting public-private bids in line with CPI’s Sustained Processing business strategy
- To undertake due diligence of potential bids with colleagues and external partners to verify a robust business case exists for potential bids
- To be accountable for ensuring that bids are fully costed and in line with agreed budgets
- To coordinate input into public-private bids by utilising the diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience available across CPI to achieve the highest impact bid submissions
- To identify and manage commercial, technical and reputational risk
- To coordinate external bid partners to ensure a cohesive high quality bid is submitted on time and budget
- To be accountable for agreeing and delivering to bid deadlines
- To work collaboratively with colleagues to develop bid writing capacity as a commercial offering to CPI clients
- To work with technical teams to translate winning bids to project initiation, implementation and delivery.
- To work in partnership with colleagues to build effective, collaborative relationships both internally and externally with potential funding partners and potential clients.
- To communicate effectively between funding bodies, colleagues and clients to facilitate ongoing funding.
- To create and maintain a register of public and private funding sources, including Horizon 2020, EC-PPPs, TSB and RGF
- To maintain a library of data sources, references and potential funding sources
- To manage delegated areas of the public-private funding portfolio and provide actual/budget/forecast performance reports
- To work in partnership with marketing teams to ensure that CPI’s market profile is consistently aligned with business strategy and funding requirements
- To build a network of potential funding bodies and develop an external profile which maintains CPI at ‘front of mind’ with potential funders
Person specification
Essential
- Significant experience of creating and submitting successful public-private proposals
- Performance focused
- Science, Engineering or business related degree combined with an ability to integrate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrates examples of strong business awareness and judgement
- Good organisational and planning skills; able to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail; able to manage self and others to reach objectives and meet deadlines.
- A positive can-do attitude, with a collaborative work style and ability to liaise with project partners, understand their contribution to the project and their needs
- Strong communication skills both verbally and written; demonstrates good listening skills but proactive in group discussions; able to present well-structured argument
- Builds sustainable professional relationships based on trust and ability to deliver
- Experience of leading multi skilled teams
Desirable
- Science or Engineering or business related Postgraduate degree
- Experience of leading the bid preparation process
- Experience of working within the Life Sciences/Biotechnology industry
