Purpose: 
  • To provide process engineering knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with a diverse range of specialists and project managers to scope, define and deliver experimental work programmes.
  • To design, develop and implement industrial plant processes to support innovative industrial processes to deliver a diverse range of products scalable from laboratory to production
     
Key Responsibilities:
To champion and ensure compliance with agreed SHE and quality standards.
  • To identify and implement improvement to SHE and quality standards.
  • To work closely with production teams to develop effective production processes.
  • To ensure that process development is undertaken to optimise safety, financial performance and environmental impact.
  • To ensure that scale-up and scale-down processes are developed in consultation with production teams to minimise changes to equipment re-configuration.
  • To coordinate the development of simulation capability and process models.
  • To work with internal and external customers to identify and understand their needs and contribute to the design and delivery of agreed outcomes within agreed timescales.
  • To provide process engineering knowledge to develop continuous safety and facility improvements and modifications.
  • To understand and apply effective project management disciplines and ensure that time is allocated to relevant project codes within agreed budgets, alerting Head of Process Engineering Group and relevant stakeholders to any slippage or potential over runs.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment aligned with professional guidelines.
  • To provide clearly documented records of process engineering decisions, methodologies, calculations and software use in an agreed format.
  • To provide professional engineering guidance to colleagues and contribute to own and team’s continuous professional development.
  • To plan project asset and resource requirements effectively and deliver project process engineering requirements to time and budget.
  • ​To provide process engineering expertise to project scoping and feasibility studies in pursuit of business generation.
Person specification:

Essential
  • First degree in a process engineering discipline
  • Direct experience of process engineering in a full or semi-tech process industry environment.
  • Direct experience of design, calculation and approval of pressure system design and relief and blowdown systems.
  • Demonstrates examples of leading delivery of projects from design through to commissioning
  • Demonstrates examples of collaborative working within and between multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Summarises and communicates technical information and effectively to non-technical people.
  • ​Develops effective and authentic relationships with stakeholders
Desirable
  • Experience of leading process scale-up processes
  • Experience of industrial biotechnology environments
  • Experience of process engineering within sterile design environments

Salary: £50000 – £57500 plus car allowance
