What You Don’t Know About Sex

Sex is one of the most interesting topics to explore, as we all go through the different stages it has to offer throughout our lives.
There’s the loss of virginity, then years of “sexploration” and then retaining the fire once you’ve found your life partner! For many, sex goes beyond procreation. Both scientifically and spiritually, its complexity has long been studied in humans and animals. With new discoveries being made everyday, check out these weird and wonderful sex facts!

Keep the sperm flowing

Scientists in Australia say that having regular sex clears sperm from the testicles and prevents the natural build-up of DNA damage. According to the UK Independent, Dr David Greening from the Sydney IVF clinic in Wollongong, said: “Keeping the river flowing means the sperm doesn’t hang around so long and become damaged. There’s less time for vandalism. We advise couples to try to work out when the woman’s ovulating and have lots of sex.” So if you’re planning on having kids anytime soon, then having sex once a day for a week before you’re with a partner who is ready to conceive is ideal. However, don’t get carried away, as having too much sex can also cause a man’s sperm count to fall too low.

Celery is vegetable Viagra?

Research shows that celery increases the pheromone levels in men’s sweat, allowing them to be more attractive to women. Pheromones are often referred to as a “sixth sense”, which are somewhat related to our sense of smell. While they are more prominent in animals, they are a chemical communication system, used to communicate between different individuals. In animals, pheromones when released by one individual can even cause a behavioural response in another, particularly when it comes to mating.

Sex can be a deadly for some animals

For humans and for certain other animals, recreational sex can be highly enjoyable but not all sex leads to a happy orgasmic ending! The randy marsupial mates with several partners during mating season for up to 14 hours a time. After the long stretch of marathon sex, the males develop sores, lose their hair, go blind and then die eventually from the stress caused by their hormones and immune system. And of course we can’t forget to mention the infamous black widow spider, known to practice cannibalism by eating her prey during or after mating.

We should all wear red

Red is linked with romance and sex particularly Western culture. When you think of red lipstick and red hearts on Valentines Day, red lingerie, it all matches up. Well, women wearing red get more heads turned, as they are more likely to be found attractive! Research found that men are more likely to spend more money on dates with women wearing red. According to a study conducted in 2010 study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology also revealed that women found guys wearing red more appealing than men in other colours.
